Historical Importance of Kumbh Mela

The Kumbh Mela occurs at Nashik is equally auspicious as that of other 3 Kumbh Mela destinations. It’s also the place where the drop of nectar fallen. Therefore, it is blessed by the presence of almighty Lords. As per various sculptures in Hinduism, devotees started celebrating the Kumbh Mela festival here from the time after the completion of the Samudra Manthan. A pot of Nectar appeared from the Samundra. However, there was a deal between gods and demons that they would share the Nectar equally. But, since Devatas were familiar to the fact that sharing the Nectar with Demons may be harmful to the living being, and therefore, they decided to not to share the Nectar. Therefore, the war was carried out that ran for 12 human years.

During the battle, when Garuda Dev was flying with the nectar pot, a few drops of nectar fall here at this place of Nashik too. From that time, this place holds the title of one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage place.

How to reach Nashik Kumbh

By Railway route

There are numerous trains to take you to Nashik. Once you get to the Nashik Railway stations, it takes around 20 to 30 minutes to reach the destination where the Kumbh Mela takes place. You may hire a cab, taxi, or you may also take a bus right from outside the railway station.

By Road Route

There are the direct bus services from almost all states to Nashik. Once you get to the Nashik bus stand or any of the nearest bus stand, you can hire a local bus, cab, or the Taxi to get to the bank of river Godavari where the Kumbh takes place. It may take you around a maximum of 30 minutes.

By Air Route

However, the nearest airport to Nashik is Ozar, but this is yet to be started. therefore, you will have to reach the Chhatrapati Sivaji International Aiport, and from there, you may get to the Kumbh destination.
